Outside of work, we enjoy various activities such as savoring Kenyan tea, hiking, indulging in poetry, music and art, exploring new local businesses, and much more. We prioritize qualities such as curiosity, simplicity, inclusivity, efficiency, and an unyielding commitment to customer satisfaction. Our locations are in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Nairobi, Kenya.

History

Our journey began simultaneously in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Hyderabad, India, weaving together a compelling narrative. Our founder, Luka Mutinda, conducted groundbreaking business experiments in Tulsa’s historic Black Wall Street district, supported by a non-dilutive pebble grant. Meanwhile, our co-founder, Neville Lusimba, was busy researching and developing technology products tailored for Indian and African merchants..

Luka witnessed firsthand how American small businesses leveraged Point of Sale (PoS) technology to compete with larger competitors, while Neville immersed himself in the world of fintech software, observing how it revolutionized technology distribution in emerging markets. Both shared a deep passion to bring digital solutions to these markets. This shared vision led to the incorporation of DUKAPAQ Inc. in 2022 and continues to guide us as we expand our product offerings from Tulsa to the rest of the world.

Timeline

2015
After graduating from University, Luka embarks on his career journey as an Account Manager at Thr!ve Point of Sale Software, in Texas, United States.
2016
Neville relocates to Hyderabad, India for pursue further studies in engineering
2019
Co-founders Luka and Neville meet and cross paths at a technology conference
2021
Neville and Luka conduct market discovery assessments across 571 retailers in Nairobi and Mombasa, Kenya.
2022
Luka meets Miguel in Tulsa, Oklahoma expanding the founding team to three members. Early product research and experiments culminate in the team’s acceptance into the inaugural Tampa Bay Wave Fintech Accelerator program; Consequently, the founding team incorporates DUKAPAQ Inc. Tampa Bay Wave (TBW) Fintech Accelerator is a highly specialized 90-day program exclusively tailored for disruptive fintech startups. Notably, the program is non-dilutive and is a collaborative effort between Tampa Bay Wave and the University of South Florida (USF) Muma College of Business.
2023
Company launches DUKAPAQ version 1.2; a full service mobile Point of Sale application
2023
DUKAPAQ receives a nomination for the 2023 Africa Fintech Awards held in Washington, D.C, United States.
2024
Company releases DUKAPAQ version 2.0 featuring enhanced functionalities and expansions in hardware and payment integrations.
